| Accepted topics: Indian
cultural
and
linguistic
studies
(all
about
India);
non-classical
Buddhist studies: preferably tantra, art,
Neo-Buddhism; acceptable are also studies concerning Nepal, Tibet, Sri
Lanka,
Indonesia, etc., insofar as Indian cultural influence is clear.
Comparative studies about the relationship between India and the
Western world are also welcomed. Particularly favoured topics: religion and philosophy (esp. Jainism, Shaivism, Vaishnavism, Tantrism), language and literature studies (especially Dravidian), art history, Indological methodology, contemporary India. Accepted languages: English, German, French, Dutch, Latin, Sanskrit German orthography: either old or new - consistency is important Sanskrit: Devanagari or Latin transliteration with the internationally usual academic diacritical marks; for articles and book reviews prose is preferred Possible kinds of contributions: - Essays (approx. 30,000 to 80,000 keystrokes, incl. spaces and footnotes): to each essay a short summary in English must be added, highlighting the topic and the most important conclusions. - Book reviews (approx. 400 to 800 words): authors may not introduce their own books; books may be offered and sent to the editors for reviewing (see address below); not more than two years should have elapsed since the publication of the book; sending a copy of the book to Manya Verlag does not mean entitlement to a review, and the copy becomes the property of Manya Verlag; the publisher decides whether a review will appear; reviews must be to the point; the publisher is concerned about objectivity and will refuse publications that are evidently based on personal conflicts; only scholarly writings are reviewed. - The column Ceterum Censeo / Iti Mama Matam (to a maximum of 1000 words): here short statements in Sanskrit can be made concerning Indian, Indological, and philosophical questions, but also critical methodological questions may be brought forward concerning the humanities and general cultural topics. Not acceptable are evidently insulting or unfair ad personam contributions. Here metrical forms are accepted too. General conditions: - Essays are solid scholarly work (primarily in the fields of Indology, religious studies, philosophy, anthropology, art history); not acceptable are contributions of a political, religious, or otherwise non-scholarly nature, or such that are poorly researched. - Only completely finished materials are processed for publication. - The author guarantees that he holds the copyright on all submitted materials, including images. Manya Verlag explicitly is not responsible for any copyright issues concerning the submitted materials, nor for the content of contributions: for these only the author is responsible. - The author has not already published, nor submitted his contribution for publication anywhere else, also not on-line on the Internet (in the case of non-acceptance of the contribution by the MIZ, the author will be informed and may submit his contribution elsewhere). - The processing and publishing of contributions are free of cost for the author. - By submitting a contribution, the author expresses his approval of these general conditions. - The author receives a rough printout of his contribution before publication, for proof reading; contributions that are not returned after proof reading, together with the author's approval, cannot be published. - The author receives one author's copy of the issue of the journal in which his contribution appears and has the right to acquire further copies at a 20% rebate.
